Why Starbucks and Peanuts, and why now

Starbucks ties the collection to the calendar. Its announcement draws a parallel between Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin and customers waiting for the Pumpkin Spice Latte to return each year.8 "The return of Pumpkin Spice Latte and 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown' are both enduring signs that fall has arrived," said Dana Pellicano, Starbucks' senior vice president of Global Product Experience.1

The anniversary gives the timing. The special is a 25-minute animated Peanuts programme that premiered on CBS on October 27, 1966.5 Starbucks is one of several partners marking it: Attractions Magazine lists a Hallmark anniversary line, a pumpkin-shaped vinyl edition of the soundtrack from Craft Recordings, a "60 Years" line from The Peanuts Store, and Peanuts events at Six Flags parks.5

The characters belong to Peanuts Worldwide, which is 80% owned by the Sony Group and 20% by the family of Charles M. Schulz.1 The Starbucks lead on the project, Christine Grennan, said she wanted "to do right by the fans and make sure that it all feels really true to the characters."6

How the partnership began: Japan, 2022 and 2023

Starbucks Japan was first. After a cryptic post on September 14, 2022 set off rumours, it announced a Peanuts range the next day on the theme of happiness. The goods arrived in two drops, on September 28 and October 5: stainless steel bottles and tumblers at ¥4,900, caps, T-shirts, stacking mugs at ¥2,900 and a Starbucks Snoopy plush at ¥4,500.3

A second Japanese range followed in March 2023. SoraNews24 called it "considerably smaller" than the first and listed stainless bottles named for Lucy, Franklin, Charlie Brown, Sally and the Beagle Scouts, a Charlie Brown glass mug and a gift card.9

2025: Joe Kind Snoopy goes global

In March 2025 the partnership widened. SoraNews24 called the Japanese release Starbucks Japan's third Peanuts tie-up, built around Joe Kind Snoopy, an original persona created to promote kindness. It reported the collection was released in 85% of the countries where Starbucks operates, with some goods exclusive to Japan, and tied it to Starbucks' Global Month of Good.10

In the US, Starbucks announced the range on March 24, 2025 and said Joe Kind Snoopy was "available exclusively at Starbucks." Three drinkware pieces went on sale on March 25: a 24-ounce plastic cold cup ($19.95), a 16-ounce stainless steel tumbler ($29.95) and a 14-ounce ceramic mug ($17.95).4 In Japan, a white 473 ml reusable cup cost ¥800 in stores, while stainless bottles and tumblers sold on the online store for ¥5,500 to ¥5,900.10

2026: the Great Pumpkin collection

The 2026 collection is larger and more expensive than the 2025 one. In the US the ten pieces are:6

Rewards members in the US could also buy clothing and a scarf on Starbucks Shop, and two app-only drinks, a Charlie Brown Mocha Frappuccino and a Snoopy Cookie Frappuccino, appeared in the Starbucks app.8 The Asia Pacific announcement describes the line-up with slightly different names, including a plastic cold cup and a ceramic mug, and adds that availability varies by market.7

Is it new, sold out, in demand?

New: yes. It launched on September 15, 2026, for a limited time while supplies last.1

Sold out: KRLD, citing Bloomberg and the Seattle Times, reports that the glass cup sold out at many stores the day it launched, that some shoppers lined up before 3 a.m., and that in North Texas stock was already thin by Tuesday afternoon. It also reports that "Starbucks Snoopy" ranked among the top US Google searches over 24 hours, according to Bloomberg citing Google Trends.2

Resale: the same report puts resale listings at up to $200 and StockX sales at up to five times retail.2 Those are the outlet's figures, not ours.

Restock: we found no announcement. The nearest precedent is the Bearista glass cup, which sold out in under a day in November 2025; Starbucks apologised at the time11 and announced eleven months later that the original would return, with timing to be announced.12 We do not know whether Starbucks will do the same for the Snoopy cup.
